About Time

Time is motionless. It is we who are moving in the wrong direction and compensating for this shortcoming by accelerating.
- Stanisław Jerzy Lec

About Systems

There is one system we won’t be able to get out of for a while - the Solar System.

A Little Bit of Russian Wisdom

Часто крыша над головой мешает людям расти. Вот она и едет...

Global Economic Crisis as a Problem of Imagination

As one of my favorite satirists Stanisław Jerzy Lec said, "the richer your imagination, the poorer you feel". The opposite is also true. So, all we need to do is to start curbing our collective imagination on a global scale and we will be fine.

On America and Americans

1. America was not discovered by Americans - shame on them!
2. Who knows what Columbus might have discovered had America not blocked his way!
- Stanisław Jerzy Lec

"Is It That Bad"?

After years of neglect, I started updating my professional network by linking everybody into LinkedIn. After sending a request to join my network to an old friend of mine, I received his aceptance message and a note: "Is It That Bad?"

Profound Thought # 4

"A" people hire "A" people, "B" people hire "C" people, "C" people hire losers, and losers outsource.

Profound Thought # 3

On the good side, anybody anywhere can babble to the world whatever they want and get responses from similar people. So, if you have at least a little bit to say, you can make it instantly available to anybody who has any interest in that. And if you have any talent, a unique perspective or a little bit of wisdom, it can be easily amplified by the social software.

On the bad side, anybody anywhere can babble to the world whatever they want and get responses from similar people. So, if you don't have any talent or unique perspective or a little bit of wisdom, you still can feel self-important and contribute to the overall information pollution.

Profound Thought # 2

• Like word-processor before made my mediocre writing less illiterate;
• Like PhotoShop before made my pictures good enough to send to the local newspaper;
• Like video-editing software before made my home videos tolerable to watch even by my own family members;

the social software raises the bar of what an average (mediocre) person like me can do on the Web's publishing side.

As always, it has both good and bad sides (see upcoming Profound Thought # 3).

Profound Thought # 1

Here is my first deep observation.

• Like word-processor before did not make me neither a writer nor a poet;
• Like PhotoShop before did not make me neither an artist, nor a photographer;
• Like movie-making software before did not make me neither a director, nor an actor,

the so called "social software" (including bloggers) will not make me much more "social" than I am today, but...(see Profound Thought # 2).

Welcome to My Profound Thoughts

Now I can start babbling to the world~
